Lapiplasty 3D Bunion CoRrection
Do you have a pesky bunion that’s leading to pain, swelling, and difficulty in finding comfortable footwear? They often worsen over time without proper treatment. Traditional bunion surgery, or bunionectomy, involves removing the bony bump and shifting the bone, often requiring a lengthy recovery period with limited weight-bearing. In contrast, Lapiplasty® bunion correction is a more advanced procedure that addresses the root cause of the bunion by repositioning the entire metatarsal bone in three dimensions. This innovative technique stabilizes the joint using specially designed plates, resulting in a more natural foot alignment and typically allowing for faster recovery with earlier weight-bearing. Lapiplasty® aims to provide a more permanent solution with reduced risk of recurrence and better overall foot function.
Traditional 2D Bunion Correction
- Involves unnatural cutting and shifting of the bone, providing only a 2D correction.
- Focuses on removing the cosmetic bump, not the underlying cause.
- Requires complete non-weight-bearing for up to 6-8 weeks.
Lapiplasty® 3D Bunion Correction
- Restores the entire bone to its proper alignment with a 3D correction.
- Stabilizes the root cause, which is an unstable joint.
- Enables quicker recovery, often allowing patients to get back on their feet within two weeks.
